Coaching for Everyone
Why coaching?
To be honest, when I first heard about coaching, I had my doubts about how it was different from therapy, mentoring, or CBT. Since I didn't grow up playing on sports teams, having someone take on the coaching role wasn't something I was familiar with. When I started building businesses, I tried out different coaching programs to help me refine my vision and grow. Coaching also helped me launch my Substack by allowing me to articulate my own goals around writing. No diagnosis as the starting point. No medications or doctoring required.
Coaching starts with the premise that you are already doing well and want to go deeper. My goal is to be a thought partner who has spent years figuring out how to build a career and life that actually fit together. I have worked with artists, engineers, teachers, physicians, and many other working professionals, and am happy to discuss whatever your personal or professional goals might be.
I went to a math and science high school, studied fiction and German in college, and work closely with startup founders and software engineers in addition to other physicians. I am passionate about Broadway shows and listening to my favorite podcasts. I am delighted to talk to you about writing, cooking, travel, or whatever speaks to you.
Physician Coaching
A thought partner who understands clinical practice and business
A lot of physicians who seek coaching are looking for a way out of clinical practice, and if that is where you are, I can help you think it through. What I am most interested in offering is something different: support for physicians who want to reimagine what it means to build a career in medicine on their own terms.
Coaching is not a clinical relationship. There is no diagnosis and no medical record. If you want to work on building your best life but cannot or do not want that conversation anywhere in the medical system, this is a space where that is possible.
Business Consulting
Building a practice, on your own terms
I started a private practice immediately out of residency and have spent the years since figuring out, through a lot of trial and error and reading and iteration, how to run a sustainable independent clinical business. Before medical school I worked in program management in academic medicine, which gave me a foundation in how institutions actually function that most clinicians do not have when they first think about going out on their own. Whether you are thinking about starting a practice, growing one you have already built, or weighing a transition from employer-based work to contract arrangements, locums, or full private practice, I am happy to work through it with you.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is not therapy and I am not acting as your physician. There is no diagnosis, no medical record, and no billing code. Coaching starts with the premise that you are already doing well and want to go deeper.
Do I need to be a physician to work with you?
Not at all. I have worked with artists, engineers, teachers, and many other working professionals. The questions I find most interesting do not stop at the clinic door.
What if I need someone to prescribe medications?
If you need someone to prescribe medications but would prefer to work with me as a coach, I am happy to help you think it through and connect you with a colleague who can prescribe.
Can you prescribe medication for coaching clients?
No. If we are in a coaching relationship I cannot also be your prescriber.
What are your fees?
